Party Platforms 2008

Words I do not see in the party platforms(hopefully this will be a larger list):

NDP:  Marijuana

There is some suggestion, in the media at least, that the NDP is dropping its call for non-punitive approach to cannibis law, in order to become official opposition; possibly burning Marc Emery in the process(who *hasn’t* screwed Marc Emery over?).   It’s not the most important issue of the election, but it is still worrying.

In the meanwhile, Marc Emery still faces life imprisonment for breaking US laws on Canadian soil.  Also, outside of Saskatchewan, it is still unclear whether marijuana is even still illegal.

Conservatives: Fixed Elections, Election campaign finance laws, Election campaign fraud, in general, Elections

Considering campaign promise & one of the very first acts under the previous Conservative government was the establishment of a Fixed Election law, which the Harper government promptly ignored, it is not unimaginable that they might try the same trick; try to use snap-elections as an election issue itself, and campaign against the ability of a party, such as the liberals, to call a snap election(since they can’t do that in the states, presumably).  Of course, it wasn’t the liberals who called the last snap election—but that’s a minor detail compared to breaking federal law regarding election campaign spending, and then calling an election while an Elections Canada/RCMP investigation is ongoing.  The least they could do is include what they plan to do about this situation in their platform, but they obviously prefer to ignore the issue.

Other things left unmentioned in any party platform are welcomed in the comments.
