Leaders Debate 2008 Notes

As I promised to Jack Layton, I did indeed take 2 hours off work to watch the debates.  More as I add to this post.

For more on the stuff here, see my LJ (there’s a switch)

Oh I should mention an important fact(thanks Saskboy for pointing this out); I work for the NDP.  I am not an NDP member, so my views aren’t necessarily even close to the NDPs, but I should be pointing this out nonetheless.  I don’t intend to mislead you by neglecting to mention this, I just started there not that long ago and I haven’t quite picked up the habit of putting this disclaimer up routinely yet.  In my mind I’m pretty much just a university student still.

Balancing economy/CO2

Layton:
Unwillingness to act.

That’s one of the most important things we have
increase by 50% the # of doctors trained in canada,
60%
forgive student debts if they commit to medicine in canada for a decade
Harper says, cut taxes, and say it’s up to the provinces

Duceppe:
This is a provincial/quebec jurisdiction problem.  Ottawa is telling
provinces what to do.  Old story, ottawa knows best.
They should be taking care of aboriginal people/food inspection, stuff
that IS a federal matter(HAH, diverting blame and

analysis

Harper:
but we’ve increased stuff, there is no ideological bias here!

* Arts budgets should not have to be justified.  Job creation flows…
My riding needs this
